FAQs

Q?

What kind of game is this anyway?

A.

Beer Defense Force is a classic twin stick shooter action game with strong tactical elements. Imagine Cursed Treasure has a drunken one-night stand with Cannonfodder while Orcs Must Die is watching. Then you pretty much have an idea of what we have in mind for Beer Defense Force.

Q?

Is this a single-player or multi-player game?

A.

Both! Beer Defense Force will feature different game modes. There will be a small single-player campaign as well as as challenge and survival modes. All of those game modes can be played alone or with up to four players. Our design motto is 'coop-all-the-way' and you can play every level alone or with your friends. The game will not feature any actual PVP but only cooperative multiplayer.

Q?

When will BEER DEFENSE FORCE be released?

A.

Barring any unforeseen major catastrophes, the game will be released early 2018. We want to allow enough time for proper beta testing, rather than releasing a buggy game just for the sake of coming out a few months earlier. Production began late 2015, but it is hard to predict the exact release date with a project of that size..

Q?

Is there or will there be a public beta?

A.

There probably will be, in the form of Steam Early Access. But even with early access, we don't want to put out a game that is grossly unbalanced or suffers from major bugs. That is why there is no timeline for that yet.

Q?

Is this game Kickstarted? Is there a publisher?

A.

No, and no. For the moment, we are self-funded. This means we work part-time on contract work that gets us and our artists paid, while we work on BDF in the remainder of our time. Kickstarter might be an option near the end of development, when the game is close to being finished, and requires a lot of full time work, which needs more funding.

Q?

Is this a joke or a real game?

A.

Yes, it is a real game! You can't touch it (unless you burn it to a disc after download), but you will be able to play it.

Q?

Are you hiring? I can’t find a career’s section on this website.

A.

At the moment, we are fully staffed and not looking for any more full-time employees. If you are a freelancer looking for outsourcing work, please send your online portfolio to info@metalpopgames.com.

Q?

What platforms will Beer Defense Force be available on?

A.

The current plan is to release BDF for PC first (via Steam) and then take a look at console releases, specifically XBox One and Playstation 4.

Q?

What engine is the game made with?

A.

The game is being made with Unity 5.
